Coming to Nigeria

I, 35 F AA, have been friends with a guy, 33 M Igbo, on Instagram for 6 years and we have a friend in common (a guy I went to law school with in the US who since returned to Nigeria). The guy from Instagram that I’m talking to is also a lawyer. It wasn’t until this year in October that we started talking regularly, before this it was just responses to IG stories and posts for years. I’m planning to visit him in Nigeria for the first time in February to see if it’s real.

A little about him. He has no kids and says he lives alone. He’s sweet, kind and thoughtful. He hasn’t asked me for anything but my time. He is respected by his friends and really loved by his family. He’s also pretty progressive in his thinking and is very familiar with black American culture. We really like each other and we both think it feels like we have a rare connection. If all goes well we can discuss taking our relationship to the next level.

What sort of things should I be looking for and evaluating when I visit him to make sure he’s legit and that he’s intentions are pure? What are some red flags I should look out for?
