Phil and Claire visiting their exes

Does anyone find it weird how often Phil and Claire visit / talk about old flames? I found Phil's old gf visiting the family home and casually discussing her relationship with him really bizarre. It's one thing to be comfortable that your partner had a life before you, but it feels kinda extreme to go on dates with them. I'm not married so maybe I'm exaggerating here. Does anyone else feel the same way?
