Avocado Green Mattress - Sags after 1.5 year of normal use - avoid!
Hello :)
I'm in the process of finding a new mattress after owning an Avocado green Firm queen for 1.5 years and wanted to share my experience. At first, it was a good balance of cushion-y and supportive. But Sadly, the mattress coils started to sag over 1.5" where my hips are which caused my lower back injury to flare up. I submitted a warranty claim and Avocado is sending me a replacement, however I'm looking into other brands that are more firm and can offer more sturdy support that won't crap out after 1.5 years. I'm frustrated because at Avocado's price point I feel their product should be last longer than a year and a half! I tried to get a refund or even partial refund and it was a No. So I wanted to share my experience here in case anyone out there is thinking of Avocado Green mattress in firm- It is not a good long term solution in terms of support and sturdiness. I can't figure out how to attach photos here but the center of the mattress seems to bulge out and you can visibly see a sag.
I also rated the mattress on Avocado's website with photos attached and funny enough- My review does not show up.
Really leaning towards SleepOnLatex Firm with a medium topper, they seem to have good customer service and easy returns. Also looked at Saatva Zenhaven but it seems expensive compared to SOL, however their warranty appeals to me after the experience I had with Avocado. Also looked at Plank, however when I called twice to get more info I was on hold for 6 minutes and finally hung up after nobody was there to answer - not a good sign considering i haven't even purchased their product yet.
I'm avoiding memory foam entirely after owning a Tempurpedic for 1.5 years. Memory foam seems to worsen my herniated disc pain due to the "sinking in" "stuck" feeling. memory foam also sleeps HOT and uncomfortable for me, and seems to degrade the fastest leaving impressions in the mattress.
Anyone else have any good recommendations for disc herniation sufferers with good business practices? I'd love to find something with a latex top and a strong coils that will last at least 5 years. Avocado's coil gauge was at 14, 15, and 16. At first this worked but they just aren't strong enough. Seems like a 13 gauge innerspring coil is hard to find but I feel like that's what I'd need.
