Can you grow a tree inside a person?

!SPOILERS FOR FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA!

So the main villain in Furiosa is Dementus- played by Chris Hemsworth, and at the end of the movie it’s revealed that as payback Furiosa- instead of killing Dementus- Planted a tree inside his crotch. Now Furiosa is one of my favorite movies I’ve watched this year(Maybe even favorite) but this is the one thing that keeps bothering me. How does this work? Did she place him on top of the tree? Did she crush his pelvis and used it to make bonemeal to make the tree grow super quickly? What is the science behind this?

In the movie they said that maggots are used to so his wounds are being perpetually cured so maybe that’s the key? Maybe the answer is in the type of tree used?

Besides these questions there’s also the fact that he’s still alive- in perpetual pain, but alive. How is that possible? Does Furiosa just give him the bare necessary sary amount of food and water to live just so he won’t die?

Does anyone have any answers because I am losing my mind over this
