Why is hammer so satisfying to use?

I've been using hammer in a new game i recently started using and with the new mechanics of new movesets with this weapons, it seems so satisfying to just bonk on monsters head even though I am typically not the type of player to like these weapons as they are so slow but it does a ton of damage. Note: I'm a longsword main in this game and the gameplay on rise sunbreak is just so much better than monster hunter world! (My opinion)
