Autism jokes

I am a father to two boys on the spectrum. One non-verbal and the other is behind for his age and has frequent meltdowns. Over the years i've grown overly sensitive about jokes that people make about intellectually disabled people and autism. At a point I was able to brush these things off and tell myself that they weren't targeted toward my boys and the people who make them are saying things out of ignorance and not malice. However I've become increasingly withdrawn in order to shield myself from these types of things but it's to the point where I don't even want to associate or participate with people and communities I've been a part of since before even being a father. Am I taking these things to personal?
