Love my chrome wheels, but ugh!!! They’re wheels from hell!
I got my 2023 Lexus IS350 about two years ago now. Love the car to death, no issues with it whatsoever other than abysmal gas mileage, but driving on the highway improves it
EXCEPT the wheels!
I have the grayish chrome wheels from factory. Beautiful wheels don’t get me wrong. But they’re so easy to scratch!
A few months after I got it in 2023, I drove tired and got curb rash on the front drivers side wheel. I posted it on this sub (search “decked a curb” and you’ll find it). Nobody wanted to touch it except a crackhead for 50 bucks. I got it done. Only time I ever hit a curb and it was the last time, I promise you that!
Recently I went through a car wash that has brushes to clean the wheels. Rear drivers side wheel got messed up bad. Got the car wash to pay for it. It cost NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS from the dealership to replace it. Holy moly!!!! Glad I didn’t pay for it!
Now my rear passenger wheel has a deep scratch in it. Where it came from? I’m not sure. Wheel guy won’t touch it, says if he buffs it the chrome might peel. No other shops will touch it, says it’s chrome and it won’t look perfect. Now my only chance is the dealer. I’m not spending 900 dollars on a rim.
The wheels are beautiful but they’re are so damage prone. Been thinking about getting Enkei Vulcans in Glossy Black; nice wheels that aren’t too expensive and are also easy to repair. Anybody else have these issue?
