Anyone with health conditions who successfully passed the JET?

I have controlled epilepsy and under medication. It's no longer convulsive, but I experience auras when I'm overstimulated by noise etc. It's not frequent. I can function "well" because I know when an aura is coming.

I know this condition is going to reduce my chances for the panel, so I'm planning to offset this by

"completing" the additional evaluation points:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree or higher in English or Education. - English Major, graduated in 2014
  • Have a professional language teaching license and/or experience (especially in classroom setting). - No teaching license, but I do have a TESOL certificate (from my previous Japanese company)
  • Have a general teaching experience or qualifications. (See Note 2) - I have 1 year teaching experience + 3 years of online teaching to Japanese students (again, from a Japanese company)
  • Have a Japanese language background (JLPT passer) and/or Japan study background. (See Note 2) - I'm currently self-studying Japanese and plan to take the JLPT next year.
  • Have experience traveling/living in foreign countries. - I've been to three Asian countries

I know it all boils down to the SOP and requirements, but do you think the plus points can offset the medical condition?
