How to check model 700 issues

My dad's friend told me about an issue with the model 700 where it would unintentionally fire when you take it off safety. He said I could go on the Remington website and type in the serial number of my gun and it would tell me if I had an issue but I didn't see anything on the website where I could type in a serial number. Was wondering if y'all could help me find out because I wouldn't want my gun to go off unintentionally.
