Discussion: Wright/Slaf

Full disclaimer, not throwing any shade at Slaf. I love the kid and I think he has immense potential. Whether he reaches it or not remains to be seen

Wright now has 31 pts in 54 games averaging 13:30 TOI playing the 3rd line, 2nd PP. this is his first “full” NHL season

Slaf has 30 pts in 53 games averaging 16:50 TOI playing on the 1st line, 1st PP. this his 3rd full NHL season

It’s interesting to see. Wright, the Habs villain since his “stare” at the draft table, not rushed by his club because of their depth at the time, is having a solid first season. Many had already written him off but he seems to have figured it out.

To me he doesn’t have the ceiling Slaf does but I also question if Slaf can get there at times. He has the tools but can he put them all together.

Two different kids, different paths, different styles but both being right there side to side again.
