HESI EXAM 89% Cumulative Score

I thought I posted this a few hours ago. But my brain is probably fried from spending 144 minutes and 33 seconds taking the HESI A2.

Here are a few things I did to prepare for the HESI in 2 weeks:

  1. I took a few pre-tests to show me weak points
  2. Purchased the Elseiver Assessment guide (I do not recommend)
  3. I went through all the sections that my school required (Math, Reading Comprehension, Grammar, and Vocabulary)
  4. I continued to work on my weak points
  5. I used ChatGPT to create practice questions
  6. I spent about 2 hours 5 days a week for 10 days total to prepare
  7. I scheduled the exam before studying so I didn’t procrastinate with taking it

For the Math (55 question) 88% 1. Heavy on Ratios 2. Fractions (adding, subtracting, multiplying) 3. Changing decimals to percentage and percentage to decimals 4. Calculating percentage of numbers 5. A few algebra questions 6. About 5 questions about ounces to pints, and ounces to gallons 7. A few about military time

For Reading and Comprehension (55 questions) 90% 1. Too many short passages for me to remember 2. Some passages had 1 question only 3. Some passages had 5 questions 4. Most questions were asking the main idea 5. Facts vs Opinions 6. Using context clues to define a word 7. Antonyms and Synonyms of words used in the passages

For Grammar (55 questions) 90% 1. Most questions said “select which word is incorrect in this sentence” 2. A few on Subject-verb agreement 3. Among vs. Between 4. Bad vs. Badly 5. Good vs. Well 6. Further vs. Farther 7. Lie vs. Lay

For Vocabulary (55 question) 88% 1. It was heavy on medical terms 2. There were questions that asked to choose the correct spelling (prescription, medication, assessment) 3. A few words I remember: abrasive, concise, exacerbate, fatigue, gratuitous, implied, ingest, insidious, kinetic, overt, residual, vertigo, anterior, extension 4. Some questions asked synonym and antonym of the words 5. The difference between form and from 6. Identifying the correct word to fill in the blank 7. Something about diffusion, osmosis was on there (even though I felt like this was an A&P) question

I hope this helps. The thing that helped me the most is having chat GPT create practice questions based on my weaknesses.

I took 2 comprehensive practice tests through the Elseiver website. (the actual exam was harder in my opinion)

I scored about the same that I scored on the practice questions from chatGPT that I did on the HESI A2.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask! I’m happy to help as much as I can, coming from someone who has GAD, and terrible testing anxiety.
