How do you find friends when you’re 40?

I’ve constantly wondered how you make friends as you get older and found it a problem that gathers pace as people start to go more and more in to their own lives and stop gaming. I’m so amazed that there is a community here. Maybe even more amazed that I’ve only just spotted this and this is the first thread that I’ve read. I hope I’ve haven’t offended anyone or broken any rules by jumping in to it.

I turn 40 in September. There’s maybe 1 other person I play with online now and that’s only really when he can be bothered or wants something. My kids are older and no longer want to game with me so I’m mainly on my own.

I’m from the north of the UK. I play PlayStation mainly and I play all kinds of games. Currently playing Shadow of War as I love it. I play Fortnite and I’m playing Madden 22 to try and learn the rules of American football as it’s something I’m newly getting in to. I’ve played the latest cod for a while, like to chill on minecraft. Play GTA online on the PS5 as it was free and I’m enjoying that. Downloaded Mass Effect to play for the first time. Have Battlefront 2. Literally willing to try anything when it comes to gaming.

I fell ill which led me to finish working so I also now have time. Feels like some kind of dating profile 🤣🤣 I’m not looking for that! Friends are what I want. I think I made bad choices in my early years which led to friends with different tastes and hobbies. I like rock music, dance music, pretty much any music really. Love football, movies, tv series. I’m looking to have a laugh and just talk. You’d be surprised when you are forced out of work how lonely life becomes.

So if you read this and are not entirely put off by my waffle, comment or dm me what you like to play. I’d love to chill with someone and create something epic on minecraft but I’m literally open to anything as long as I have it. Wish I had Elden ring as I’d love to test myself!
