Just need an second opinion pls

Sorry, I’m panicking right now, and I think at least I should post this, my dog(Dobie mixed lab) just turned 1 year old. got bit by another dog on his right ear, and it got swollen, I took him to the pet hospital and the vet said he needed to have surgery to cut his ears and clean/drain the fluid on the bubble abbesses. My question is should I really need to do the surgery like that? I was asked the doctor to crop his ears in the meantime because that's what they're gonna do anyway. I tried to tell the vet to clean/drain it first. But she insisted on doing the surgery so it would clean all the way. I don't have a picture old the wounds, my dog is fine but he just showing discomfort for sure. On the ear, I don't really want to put my dog in surgery if it's not necessary.
