Are we suppose to be conflicted about Dexter?

Was talking with a co-worker yesterday and he mentioned that his family thought it was weird that he wasn't conflicted about Dexter killing criminals.

I have never even thought about it, I've never been conflicted about him either. Like, he kills criminals and prevented the death of a lot of innocent people. Dexter has made some mistakes, but what human doesn't?

Is it normal to not be conflicted with Dexter?
