cholesterol level at a new high; what to eat/do to lower it? am I going downhill
I’m a 25 year old male that weighs 110 pounds and is skinny. I have a family history of high cholesterol (my mom has it also). I have been doing running alone 4-5 times a week since march, indoor and outdoor. I usually eat anything since I always run 3-5 miles a day in an hour or two. Before march, I had this following:
Before Total: 220 triglycerides: 117 HDL: 53 LDL: 144 Non-HDL: 167
I was suppose to do my blood test in May, but I was unable to because of Typhoon Mawar hitting Guam, unable to do June because of family vacation, and July because appointments were full due to the missed appointments of Mawar. Still, I continuously exercised and run 4-5 times a week in an hour or two throughout July (I was sick during family vacation but recovered after two weeks). I felt happy and felt like I was the most consistent since then.
However, when I took my blood test results online from last week, this is what I saw:
8/5 blood test: Total: 243 Triglycerides: 85 HDL: 50 LDL: 176 non-HDL:193
I initially had a breakdown and I cried because I felt like all that running for an hour felt like it was for nothing.I never been so scared and anxious of what my doctor is going to say as I meet with him in a few days. I thought of canceling my appointment, but it is best to toughen up get through it knowing it’s okay even if I was given medicine and I don’t have a choice. I can’t tell if I am heading towards a path of coronary artery disease or artheroscleroIis, but I hope it’s not too late for me to turn that around.
Now that you guys, heard my story: what did you guys do that lowered your total cholesterol and LDL? Also, what kind of diets did you try and what other exercise routine did you use that helps lower it?
