People with multiple cats - how are you keeping your living spaces clean?

Hopefully this type of post is allowed as it’s not exactly about cats. My MIL adopted our foster kitten and he isn’t being accepted by her two cats, and if I take him back we will be going from 0 to three cats in the course of a couple months. We adopted his sister and another kitten recently and keeping up with the cat hair, smell, and litter boxes for two is already a big job. I feel with three my life with be largely consumed with cleaning and I don’t want to make a decision and resent it.

How are people with multiple cats staying on top of this? Any tips you can share? Products, schedules, routines, etc. I must be doing something wrong.
