Boomer homeowner

I've been working in some form of customer service my entire adult life. Mostly food service. So between that and both of my parents being Boomers, I'm well versed. But the Boomers I encounter at my current job are wild.

I work in the customer service dept for a flooring company. We do the majority of our business with new build homes. We have a new customer who we have never dealt with who is driving us all nuts. We'll call her Debbie.

Debbie called in last Friday, inquiring about a leak she believes is coming from her shower pan. After getting her info, my associate finds that we did the install 10 years ago. We offer a 1 year installation warranty, but we can back charge an installer up to 2 years after the install if needed. It is also a model home she bought "as is", and she's the 2nd owner. The home is out of warranty with us and the builder, and the builder has told her so.

My associate tells her that and Debbie starts SCREAMING, asking for the manager. My manager speaks with her and explains to her, "I'm sorry, but you're well out of warranty with us, there isn't anything we can do." We have processes and procedures, obviously. She threatens legal action. Once legal action is threatened, associates can't tell her anything, just take her info.

I get her call on Monday. She starts screaming immediately. "Ma'am, could you please lower your voice so I can try to help you?" Well that just set her off. She goes on about how my manager is ignoring her calls and how she's going to sue us. She says, "i do this all the time, I'm VERY good at it. You or [builder] will be paying to replace this." Okay, Boomer. I tell her, "Do what you need to do, and I'll get your information over to my manager's boss." She huffs and hangs up on me.

She calls back Tuesday. Wednesday. By Friday, everyone in our office has spoken to her. I'm wondering what she thinks harassing us is going to change? Does she think bullying us and telling us how good she is at suing people is going to change the outcome?? She doesn't have a leg to stand on. She will be wasting her money on a lawsuit. Which is probably why she's harassing us.

So, yesterday I looked her up in that county's municipal court records. Yes, she does sue people a lot, literally 8 times in the past 10 years. But she's only won ONCE. A Tire place had to pay her $400. Seriously, lady?

I hope I get her call again on Monday. I LOVE pissing off irrational Boomers :)
