How long after filing bankruptcy did you say life was back to normal?

I know of people who have filed either Chapter 7, 11 or 13 and they have had credit card offers for very small amounts like $500 from the very companies they got their large credit card debts wiped from. I'm more of talking about how long after both filing and the discharge stage did life go back to "I can finally go on a vacation" or "I can sleep well at night". Or even better yet "I can go on a vacation and using my new credit card to pay for free checked bags"? Was it 7 years after the bankruptcy fell off your credit report? Was it more like 3 years after discharge (rumor is that 3 years after discharge is when banks begin to reconsider you for things like higher limit credit cards and also for personal loans).

I'm thinking of filing for bankruptcy and believe 7 years after discharge is probably a good mark of when your life truly goes back to normal. I have yet to file of course so take my advise with a grain of salt.
