I killed everyone at Crèche Y'llek out of spite
I'm currently on yet another Honor Run. My Tav is a Gloomstalker with 8 charisma. I usually play with charisma based classes, mostly sorcerers and bards. Lae'Zel was killed by Shadowheart after I rolled two consecutive nat ones. She is one of my usual go-to party members and not having her available on the roster made me change my whole approach to the campaign. These things, coupled with me failing a lot of checks on account of having a low charisma score, opened several opportunities to get into a lot of content I had never seen before.
I made my way to meet Voss and the Githiyanki at the Mountain Pass without Lae'zel for the first time. Astarion was begging to kill them and after my interaction with Voss, I was ready to oblige him. The guy is a massive dick. I had no opportunity to have more conversations with Lae'zel, so my Tav's overall impression of the Gith in general was not the best, to put it mildly. Every interaction with a Gith is filled with unwarranted aggressiveness and condescension. However, I managed to make some successful rolls and avoided that combat.
Later on, I went over to the crèche accompanied by Karlach. As I walked into the crèche, I failed every possible roll and ended up fighting the Gith guarding the entrance. I was already at level 6, almost at level 7, so this was an easy fight. I started looting the dead gith and noticed a door on to my left. I always breezed through this section and never took the time to explore much. I just did what I was supposed to do, story-wise, and left. I lock picked the door and as I entered, I noticed Ellyka's corpse, battered and bruised on the floor. Karlach had the Amulet of Lost Voices equipped and spoke to her corpse.
After our short encounter with her at the Mountain Pass, she went to the monastery in search of the Light of Lathander and was captured, torture and killed by the Githiyanki. I looked at Karlach's face after the corpse said that she was killed "painfully" and "slowly" and imagined how she felt after seeing yet another Elturian refugee fall. The refugees she wasn't able to help while she was stuck in Avernus and that she went through so much to save from the druids and the goblins at the grove.
Right then and there, I decided I was going to kill every single Githiyanki in that whole crèche.
This wasn't a Durge run, where I'd normally oblige to this sort of thing. This was a "good" campaign, where I was playing a hero. A person that went out of their way to save the refugees at the grove and was trying to be a good person after being dealt a very bad hand. But then and there, it became something else.
This was about vengeance.
I lead my party into every room of the crèche dealing death. No long rests. Just my Gloomstalker, Astarion, Karlach and Wyll slicing our way though every Gith we could find. I stole the egg. I killed the youth in the barracks toying with the Gremishka. I killed the Ghustil and never hopped on the Zaith'isk. I refused to give the artifact to the Inquisitor and killed him on the spot. Vlaakith came and I entered the Prism just to chat with my Dream Guardian and left with the Light of Lathander, a Githiyanki egg and a whole lot of loot.
There wasn't a soul left alive at the crèche as my party left there to long rest, drenched in Githiyanki blood. I left them unburied, bloodied and bruised on the floor. Just like they left Ellyka.
