Can you update/change your test scores after submitting a college application?

Lets say I apply to a university and submit my application mid-October, but an SAT I took on October first finally sends out scores after I apply (say November first). Is there any way to send in my new score if I like it more than the one I submitted? Is it dependent on the college? If I were to send it in, does it require me to completely remove my application and reapply (effectively making me unable to apply early)?
