She isn’t all the way innocent

I get that she has a really troubled past and trauma from it. HOWEVER, if she was so scared to fly to a different country by herself, which almost all of the other people on this show do, why is she pursuing someone all the way in South Africa? Why not get someone a safer traveling difference like the same country? I feel like she brought all this drama upon herself by intentionally actively seeking an international partner. Also why did her voice get more annoying in the most recent episode?
